Bendrey Brothers have been involved in some of the most exciting projects to have
taken place in the West of England. Just to give you a flavour some of these are shown
on this page:

The Kennet and Avon Canal
Lock gates contain some surprisingly complex shapes and require specialist skills to
produce. Much of the timber used in the locks on the restored Kennet and Avon canal
was cut at Bendrey Brothers.

The Matthew
The original of this superb ship was sailed to Newfoundland by John Cabot in 1497. When
a replica was built for the 500th anniversary celebrations many of the skills of an
earlier era were scarce indeed. The builders turned to Bendrey Brothers to mill the
oak framing for the vessel which has now sailed the Atlantic
twice and is currently on display in Bristol.
