Engineered Oak Flooring
The advantage of Engineered Oak boards over Solid Oak boards is that the boards are much more stable.
They are very resistant to shrinkage, they do not cup or twist in the same way solid boards do. This makes them ideal for use where under floor heating is to be installed; the heating system thermostat should be set at 26 degrees centigrade.
Construction: 6mm solid American Oak board bonded to 14mm Birch ply an overall depth of 20mm. Width 189mm and lengths in mixed packs of 1.86m & 0.93m.
Installation
Engineered oak flooring should be laid by a competent floor layer, it can be laid on joists as you would normal floor boards, floated on fibreboard underlay or glued down to level dry concrete or screed and most types of timber sub floor.
Engineered flooring can be secret nailed using a nailing tool, screwed using Tongue Tite screws, glued to concrete or screed using Rewmar flooring adhesive. It can also be floated on top of fibre board, it is advisable to glue the Tongue and groove joints using standard wood glue.
Finishes
All unfinished engineered flooring from stock is character grade, knots blemishes are filled where necessary and sanded ready for flooring oil or varnish.
